  • Title: “In the Eye of the Beholder Dog Food Face”
  • Media: Dog Food. Unsatisfied Dog.
  • Submitted by: Andie R.
  • Even more than usual, this entry is almost entirely open to interpretation. Andie claims that this is a face left in her dog's food bowl after an unsatisfactory dinner. She describes it thusly: "This is a photo I took of our dog Darwin's food bowl. Occasionally we treat him to cut up chicken, steak or ground beef mixed in with his food. Sometimes he won't eat all day in anticipation of possible extras. One evening after he realized no manna was to come, he ate his meal and went to lie down. I walked (by) and the few morsels he left behind caught my eye. The more I looked at it I saw a 'dog's grimace'... the eyes, the nose and downward frown with tongue hanging out." Do you see it to, gentle viewer?

  • Title: “Smiling Faces Pepper”
  • Media: Pepper. Joy. Slice of a clean blade.
  • Submitted by: Jacky H.
  • Jacky cut into this otherwise normal pepper to find two of, possibly, the most pleasant smiling faces that have ever been found inside of a bell pepper. For some reason, though, I doubt that their grins spared them the inevitable end that delicious peppers tend to suffer.

  • Title: “Donut Monster”
  • Media: Donuts. Muppet-like googly eyes.
  • Submitted by: Jim T.
  • Like the "Cookie Monster," expect only if the cookie monster was made out of cookies instead of just having a love for cookies... and if, instead of cookies, it was donuts. Thus: DONUT MONSTER!

  • Title: “Oreo Ghost”
  • Media: Oreo Cookie. Spirit from... THE AFTERLIFE.
  • Submitted by: Linh N.
  • Linh knows how to properly consume an Oreo cookie: you twist apart the cookie, bite off the icing, then consume the two chocolately halves separately (you, of course, may choose to employ milk at any part of this process). What Linh didn't realize, though, is that friendly-looking ghosts sometimes choose to haunt these cookies. Here is the photographic evidence of one such ghost!

A butternut squash with breaks in its skin that give it the appearance of having a single eye and a mouth.

  • Title: “Butternut Cyclops”
  • Media: Butternut squash. Greek & Roman Mythology.
  • Submitted by: Fernando A.
  • According to myth, the cyclopes* are a primordial race of giants -- all with a single eye in the middle of their forehead. Is this squash simply emulating the creatures of myth? Or, is it a sign of a new creature to come? *Yes, that is the proper spelling of the plural for "cyclops."
