Liner, Listening & Album Notes:

From the album’s back cover:

HAWAII, our 50th state, long has been identified as an island of romance, of pleasure, of friendliness and of music. With its admission to our union, many Americans are deter-mined to “see for themselves” if the tales that are told of Hawaii are true. And, as they embark via air or sea, the travellers will be wished farewell and god-speed with Hawaiian music. Upon their arrival in the port cities of Hawaii, travellers will be welcomed and wished a very happy time β€” with music. Finally, on the day one sails for home, after a heart-warming visit to these enchanted islands, the traveller will once again be serenaded β€” with music which says a lingering farewell and a wish for not only a safe journey, but also a speedy return to Hawaii and its music.
Hawaii, as Spain, as France, has a music which is its very own. It is a polyglot, however. Made up of the native tribal rhythms of the native polynesians with a healthy admixture of the rhythms and melodies of other cultural infiltrations, the Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, French, Danes etc. etc., the music has been stirred thoroughly for generations and comes out β€” Hawaiian. It was no problem choosing the melodies for this album, for the catalog of Hawaiian music is filled with exciting and typical music expressing every conceivable mood.

There are no drums on this album! It’s an album of Hawaiian guitar!

    • Michael Hanttula says:

Yes – that’s an excellent point. I’ve added a preview track to share your insight with others. πŸ™‚ I’ve also added the back cover’s liner notes… no mention of why the album is called “Hawaii Goes Percussion” there either.
