surfsidersI guess I’m too young to remember this, but apparently there was a time when studio bands would record cheap knock-offs of the recorded music of popular bands. One shining example was a band called the "Surfsiders" that released their own recordings of the Beach Boys music… in a kind of low-budget, drunken reinterpretation. It’s unlikely you’ll find a copy of their album, but WFMU has a fine archived broadcast of all the tracks from "Surfsiders Sing the Beach Boys Songbook."
{ RealAudio stream that starts right at the introduction to the album }
